RIP Jane Austen, you would have loved the CW's Reign.

Great to see Jane Austen experimenting with different kinds of writing:
Love and Freindship: just proves that Jane Austen was a silly little guy sometimes even though she was extremely talented and could write deeply serious stories. She had the duality!!!!
Lesley Castle: Miss Austen once again writes about a timeless subject; a group of women being nice to each others faces and then immediately shit talking each other once they are alone with their friends.
History of England: Was not expecting to love this , but she was being a hater! Gossiping, rating the monarch’s hotness levels, making fun of their deaths. (Also tore into Elizabeth for like 3 pages while most everyone else got a paragraph.) Would be a 10/10 video essay.
+ v cute that she dedicated her early works to her siblings and cousin
Collection of letters: Cute little snippet where I could tell she had not quite found her voice yet, but was coming into it.
First Act of a Comedy: Shakespeare dupe?
A letter from a Young Lady: Gillian Flynn wants what she has. Can see this writing style in later works, albeit with less murder.
Wales letter: literally just a letter
A Tale: literally just a real estate tour

It was really entertaining to read Austen's stories from when she was a teenager, and you can really see how far she came!

Jane Austen must have been such a fun kid! Joyful, witty, observant (of both people and literary fashions), and wise.

This ain’t it chief.
Stick with the classic novels.
