Excellent

The author is really hitting his stride in this third book in the series. Looking forward to the next book and more adventures in this world.

All these book have been pretty much 3 1/2 stars for me. That is between 3, meh to good, and 4, pretty good-really good. I decided to bump this one up as I hadn't with the previous ones.

Chris as a character is comic book, except he keeps getting more. If he is attacked, don't expect him to have any damage, to lose, or to falter. If his gf, Tanya, the Queen of the vampires is threatened, expect Chris to run and save the day with just the right thing. There is no anxiety for the reader of Chris not being able to save the day. At the end of this book there is a point where he isn't the most uber powerful being in the fight so that was different and I'm sure from here we will have to get more of that but it will never be the ordinary. That Chris pegs all these military as self-important or self-assured and doesn't look in the mirror is a bit humorous. Of course we are supposed to understand that for him it is because he is the bomb. So does this make the book bad or irritating? No, not at all but it does leave it lacking in depth. In this book we get a little more depth to some of the supporting characters and we get a possible vulnerability, so it was better than the ones before it.

So one inconsistency, the vampire contingency flies to D.C. to Ronald Regan National in a 747, well, Regan is too short a runway, 7,169'. Why they have to have this bulky wide body jet anyway, it just limits landing airport.

So these are more like a day in the life, or maybe a couple of weeks in the life of Chris. He fights the Loki weres. He find out a little more and he finds out more about possible government organizations that might be studying him. This all happens while he is also becoming more entrenched with the vampires and have to move to the politics there too.

These are a bit gung-ho and gun happy but they are entertaining and enjoyable. I'll probably read through them since my husband is and we can both enjoy them and then have discussions.

3 stars cuz I liked it.

I feel like the books are slowly becoming a laundry list of random occurrences. Due to that I will bow out of the series now, before I'm faced with the inevitable.

#CantGetEnough

Just when I think it can't get any better, John Conroe goes and proves me wrong. I've caught the "John Conroe bug" hook, line, and sinker!

Audio book review.

A fine addition to the characters and world I'm already growing attached to. Similar in tone and grip to Nice Dragons Finish Last, a series that was phenomenal for the first few books, then went in a direction I wasn't happy with. I love how single-minded and brutal, yet flawed our main character is. Good title for a book, for sure. This one almost doesn't feel like a fully fleshed-out story by itself, but I'm super character-driven, so I don't care. Give me more!

I really liked this book, it added a little more intrigue to the storyline, but more unanswered questions that have in no way been explained yet. The storyline is getting more and more complex with all the new ability's and enemies. I can't wait to read the next book. Will chris be able to control and keep in check the grim.

Great story.

The series is very good, often reminding me of The Iron Druid, but on its own level. The character interactions keep the story flowing on a non-stop exhilarating roller coaster of action.
