5.0
In a fit of whimsy, I hereby announce I will give everyone five stars, but the reviews may not reflect it.
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is a prequel to his fun but formulaic Legionnaire series. It is a case of more of the same, but we get to see Marcus as a rookie, starting to make a name for himself by taking charge when the legion he is with finds itself hopelessly out of its depth while facing magic-wielding opponents. It's a good starting point for people who are interested in Romans vs magic/undead and, at three hours or so long, not a significant time investment. The narrator, who if I remember rightly does the whole series, does a great job.
