Αn enjoyable read, like the other books, but a) the characters were all acting a little too stupid for me and b) in the end the conflict was resolved a little too quickly. But Boston Jane is a great character (although considering what she's accomplished already her behavior here was a little out of character or rather uneven) and this was definitely fun.

Really liked this book and the character arc from the first book to now but in a way I feel like it’s a fantasy because of the positive Indian relations compared to what actually did happen because us modern readers want things to happen in a modern worldview. Otherwise, really good and would recommend to anyone who enjoys historical fiction or middle grade.

I love this series! This book is a great way to finish it off, it's probably my favorite of the series.

I liked the role reversal. In Wilderness Days, Jane wouldn't believe the people around her who knew better and kept trying to warn her and give her advice. But in The Claim, Jane actually knows better than the people who won't believe her. It made me sad and frustrated, to see her so helpless and with so few options, but I love that she stayed strong and spunky.

I feel like she was more mature in this book, which I love. It makes sense to me that she would have done a lot of growing up in the last year(?) or so, since she's all alone and stuff.

I hope that Sally Biddle (aka Nellie Olson... anyone?) becomes a nice person some day. She's the kind of person who should use her powers for good, not evil.

Good, strong ending to an awesome series. I wish there were more. :)

3 1/2 stars. The third and final installment of the Boston Jane series tackles darker and more serious topics than the first two books. Overall, it was probably my least favorite in the series, possibly because it lost some of the humor and light-heartedness of the first two books; but I still breezed through it in a couple of hours, not wanting to put it down until I reached the end. Upon reaching the end, I was disappointed that the author had not continued the story of Jane and all of her memorable friends in another installment.

This is a series that I feel completely comfortable recommending to my friends who enjoy historical fiction and stories with happy endings. These are the first books I have read by this author, and they won't be the last. Apparently she has received three Newbery Honor awards for books outside of this series.

I liked The Claim. The story was enjoyable, and the ending well done. I thought it was nice to relax with a simpler book, although the tension with the Indians made me sad because we all know how it ends. Great middle school read.

Just as good as I remembered. As a girl I relate to this. there is usually a snobby girl who everyone thinks is so nice but is a complete bitch to you. So you end up looking like the jerk when you tell people she's a bitch! ugh. Jane has a lot of troubles in this book. Many stemming from the arrival of Sally Biddle.
