This book is split into three parts; Lost, Found, & “And”. Schultz does a deep exploration of losing as well as finding things, people, and ideas - what it all might mean, how it happens, and its far-reaching impacts. She then goes into the concept and prevalence of “and” in our lives.

I loved the idea of this book. I loved the beauty of the descriptions within this book. I loved the touching personal storytelling throughout this book. I loved how this book gave me new ways to think about difficult topics, as well as reasons to think about the happier things that happen to us in whole new ways.

However, while it is exceptionally written and so very thoughtful, I wish I knew that it was, for much of the book, mainly a love story between her and her now wife - almost as if it was written just for her. I also felt that thoughts meandered, jumping from idea to idea and then back again before only sometimes landing a point. Additionally, having no chapters within each of the three sections made it feel extra wordy and difficult to digest. With such huge concepts and ideas, I felt that if I had more purposeful breaks and introduction/summaries of the topics within, I would have gotten more out of it.

Recommended, but maybe to read in conjunction with another book to be able to take time with it, only reading a dozen or so pages each day. There’s meaning jam packed in each eloquent sentence, and you don’t want to miss any of it.
