I appreciate it when my literature has excellent and diverse female characters. I appreciate it when their stories don't revolve around romantic relationships. I appreciate the stories coming from the women who are standing up for themselves. I don't appreciate the oppression used in order to get all of these together, but it is necessary to making this story work. Bitch Planet does well in bringing up oppression and patriarchy showing it in a way that is as horrifying as it is. There are some scenes that make me absolutely cringe. Whenever the comic leaves Bitch Planet and heads back to the Protectorate and the "Fathers" I literally get a pit in my stomach, and I get angry. The thing is, is that there are people like this in society. The Protectorate reminds me of the 1%ers The parts that sadden me most about this story and in everyday life are the people who wander around indoctrinated by society swallowing everything, instead of questioning it.

Unrelated to the storyline of Bitch Planet, but I really like is the discussion/thought topics included at the end of the volume. They seem pretty simple until you dig into them and start thinking about them. The last question in particular is pretty great.

A bit tough for me to get into at the beginning but WOW WOW WOW I'm hooked now. It's compelling because it's just-this-side-of-plausible and is so obviously pro-woman, no matter what kind of woman you are. LET ME GO FIND BOOK TWO STAT

This book is so funny as it is so true I especially like the part between where the comics would have ended which is full of funny little products that sound true. Recommend having some girl pop tunes in the background

First off. I'm so happy I got to read this. I'm so happy this exists. It's diverse and feminist and despite being a dystopian feels very real. The description in the synopsis saying "Think Margaret Atwood meets Inglourious Bastards" is very truthful. It met all the expectations I had for it.

I received an e-copy of this through Net-Galley for an honest review.
