I'd probably say 2 1/2 stars if I could. It was really overdramatized at points. Still I learned a lot I didn't know, but overall it was underwhelming. I did like the narrators voice, as it reminds me of Ron Jonson, who I do really enjoy. It was similar to his books or talks or podcasts. This didn't really feel like a book, but more of a podcast actually. I don't really understand the whole audible only thing as it's basically just a podcast or radioshow. Sure it had to be written, but it's just not the same. It gets confusing where the lines are, especially with something like this, but if you really enjoy Johnny Cash and don't already know much about him or this particular album, go ahead and check it out. I wouldn't spend money on it personally (I got it free for a 1 month trial), but you do you.

Short but entertaining. There was a lot here I did not know about, and it was a fun little discovery.

This is an Audible Audiobook, and it interested me because of the subject. My biggest criticism is not in the material (which could have been batter), but in the style of delivery. There is a significant difference to me between a book, even when read and listened to in audio format, and an audio documentary. In a book, the author shapes things through their writing. Quotes must be inserted in such a way as to fit that style. This lacked any of that "authorial" voice, and came across much more like an audio editing project than a book.

I will undoubtedly come to remember this as a mildly interesting podcast, and not a good book.

This was one of my free audible picks, and since I was on furlough I thought I'd plow through them. This was probably one of the most disappointing, because I was looking forward to hearing about the album.

It was partly about the album, but more about Glen Sherley, who wrote one of the songs (Cash gave him credit for it) and his life/relationship with Cash and others.

There were a number of interviews with various people, and there was lots of excited rambling by the .. 'authors'? Presenters, investigators, or whatever you want to call them.

The pieces of the story weren't very cohesive - it's like a documentary of a documentary - where you are along for the ride of discovery, but not the ride of putting together a cohesive and flowing narrative that the story desperately needs.

There was some interesting information in here, but the storytelling stlye and flow was a little dramatic and choppy.

This was a really interesting story about a convict who was present at Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Concert and had written a song which was smuggled to Johnny Cash who performed it at the concert. Great story.

This was a nice little look into what went on around the Folsom recording and the events that happened afterward before the release of the album. It wasn't as pretty as the movie liked to paint it.
