I have never heard the lullaby, but I love the magical story of the little girl that is not afraid of anything (except cold feet). It makes me want to build a little goat store under my bed.

Based on a 19th century Yiddish folk lullaby about a white goat that keeps shop under a child's bed at night, often keeping them from falling asleep. Colorfully illustrated in crayon & colored pencil (I think) by Sonia Sanchez, it's as delightful to vies as it is to giggle along with reading.

I always enjoy when I read this books how they give more than just a story. I this one, for instance, there is a bit of back story on the Yiddish language, the actual lullaby (in Yiddish), a goat you can scan to hear the lullaby performed, and a recipe for "Chewy Raisin and Almonds Cookies."
