I first read this two years ago and don't remember it being anything special. I often found myself annoyed with the narrator who was starving because he couldn't afford to buy any food, but when he got money he would foolishly waste it. This time around it was a completely different experience and I really enjoyed it, the sections which previously annoyed me, I found this time to be comical and enjoyable, I didn't catch his arrogance and pride the first time around. Great book.
