This review is only for the short story By Echo Light by Tim Powers. I had missed it when it was originally published and just came across it this year (2021) available free at the Baen site (https://www.baen.com/by-echo-light). It's a fun, though appropriately dark, little interlude that I believe takes place between the events of Alternate Routes and Forced Perspectives, focusing on Vickery's experience of the "echo vision" ability that allows him to see events that occurred at different times. Powers said the following about it in a Facebook discussion:
"As I recall, 'echo vision' was still a new experience for Vickery, and (sort of like amputees who 'feel' a phantom limb) at first his mind projected a 'view' of his body, which of course would not actually be visible in the vision. (Unkind people might say that this explanation is just me covering an inadvertent inconsistency.)"
