We read this one 7 times in a row! My son especially likes the part where he knows that it's a skunk but the dogs don't.

I received an eARC courtesy of HMH Books for Young Readers via Edelweiss in exchange for my honest review.

Simple, sweet and sure to please little ones.

Most of you know Dog Man or Captain Underpants, but do you know Dav Pilkey. He is such a sincere champion for literacy that he not only writes books that kids want to read, he writes books that kids CAN read. This is one of his emergent reader books and parents will love. The last three pages are designed to quiz your little reader and start teaching story elements that will be important for kindergarten.

F&P Level D. Little ones not yet ready for Dog Man may enjoy this series. Best for independent reading.

Read for lexile project
Lexile: 160

While the illustrations are less than stellar (although a Dav Pilkey fan might be able to confirm that they are his style), I loved the comprehension questions at the end for the mature reader to do with the learner!

This was a short board book. It was fine, and would probably be a big hit with a toddler if told right. For me it was just ehh. Some cute doggies mistake a cat for a skunk and a putrid smell is to be had by all.
