While it is not what one would assume a history of mathematics would cover, it is a fresh perspective of how historians look at mathematics, mathematicians, and the activity of participating in the mathematics community. It was illuminating to hear about the rich history of the people who were engaged in mathematics and how it transferred across communities and became an official discipline. Some of the points made by the book hit hard when one realizes how novel the culture of professorship, doctoral students, journals and conferences really is. Additionally, the activity of demystifying the people doing the rigorous work makes one realize that mathematics, like any other discipline, only advanced when men stood and built upon the shoulders of giants.
TLDR: Not what I expected but I enjoyed it and was thoroughly engrossed.

كتاب مُركَّز ومختصر ومسلي، يصلح كبداية جيدة للتعرف على لمحات عن الرياضيات وبعض من علمائها. والترجمة جيدة على غير توقعي.
