Bone chilling. Keeps you guessing until the end

Okay, this book really annoyed me. It could have been great. The premise was interesting and had a lot of potential. But the characters were mostly flat. The heroine really got on my nerves. Especially since she kept making café au lait by pouring steamed milk over frozen coffee cubes. Who does that? And, why?

Mystery writer Anna North was kidnapped when she was 13-years old, along with her 6-year old friend. It was a horrific experience that continues to define her life 23 years later. When her actress mother gives an interview that exposes her new identity, Anna's life is again public and she's experiencing disturbing events. When a close friend disappears, Anna has to work with New Orleans police detective Quentin Malone who isn't completely convinced any crimes have really been committed.
This was an intriguing story with lots of suspects lending credence to many conspiracy theories (which I'm prone to concoct). Astonishingly, my original supposition ended up being the correct one but it still required me to prove it throughout the book. There were lots of red herrings to make you second guess yourself and still a few surprises. The climax was pretty exciting, too.
I enjoyed the story and look forward to continuing the series.

Good amount of suspense. A bit of romance. Some mystery.
This one had me guessing and readjusting theories throughout the book. All the clues are there so some may have an easier time figuring everything out before the reveal, but this one had me unsure until right before or at the reveals.

I hesitated between a 2 & 3 stars - so 2.5 stars it is.
This book was okay - once you start reading it draws you in but once I put it down I struggled to want to continue. I still can't put my finger on what it is that had me not totally engrossed in the story. The actual 'case' was intriguing enough. The unfolding of events, slow but interesting. I don't always have to connect with the main character to like a story - and this was no exception. I actually liked Jaye more than I liked Anna. The twist was really good too. Still, I struggled with this and couldn't wait to finish.

I've read several books by Erica Spindler and have enjoyed them all but I gotta say Bone Cold is my absolute favorite by her

Whoa. This one is a real trip. I can't say that it TOTALLY blindsided me, because I did have the overall picture of how it would end...but there were bits and pieces of the story that absolutely did not click until the end. She keeps you guessing while still making you feel like you are close to solving "the bad guy" on your own. It was my first Spindler, and now I'll be heading to the library tomorrow for more! Good stuff.

A twisting thriller that I couldn't put down. Following Anna North a mystery writer with a secret past as a Hollywood actress' daughter who was kidnapped as a child but escaped, this book was a hell of a ride. Quick paced with plenty of twists and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat I was enthralled.
