I absolutely adored this book Well done Shand, one of the finest books to come out of a Fife-born author!
I was taken on a journey with Alistair and his junior (a clone) through the hum-drum of boring, every day life; where the clone is able to go to work, socialise and do all the tedious stuff for you, allowing (ideally) for the real you to spend all that time doing the things you want to do. However Alistair, like I imagine many of us would, falls into the trap of on-demand streams; right-here, right-now delivery and the convenience of a technologicallu advanced society. That's where the problems start.
Alistair's love for his junior is moving, even all the characters from Larson (the man responsible for juniors), Maya, Spencer and Hirst (high tier members of a group wanting to bring society back to the good old 1990s) are so well fleshed out and add different dynamics.
I thought I'd be disappointed with the ending, but I was pleasantly surprised. The finishing paragraph nearly had me in tears.

A fascinating story and near-future that resonates close to our own reality!

I had no idea what I was getting into, yet became embroiled more and more with the riveting characters as they embattled against ever escalating obstacles.

Will reread again.
