I picked this one up on a daily Kindle deal sale.

I found the writing a bit uneven at times. There were some editorial errors. The setup of "the games" took a while to get going and I didn't feel like the stakes were always high enough. I did like the way Jovee Winters wrote the mystical aspects of her gods and goddesses. She did a good job creating her mythical cast of characters. Her visual descriptions were often better than her characters' personalities, which I sometimes found flat. The side characters, especially, were hard to get to know but I haven't read the other books in the series, which could account for me feeling that way.

There's a lot of humor in the writing, which I really appreciated.

All in all, a decent and very quick light read.

Seeing Baba Yea being all three versions of herself was entertaining as hell. I also enjoyed watching her and Freyr fall in love with another. Mostly because of the sass in the beginning.

I do find the character sometimes a little confusing in their actions and reactions to things....

Baba was really an Old crone most of the time, it was nice to see Freyr chip away at her, and some of her spell were great (Loved when she frogged him)... but sometimes the Author pushes characters a bit too far... A bit too sassy, a bit too unlikeable at times.....

Baba Yaga is a Witch that has no need for a man. Unfortunately, thanks to a few meddling Goddesses, she has to fall in love within a month - or forfeit her life. But she has a few tricks up her sleeve and she doesn't plan to fall without a fight, ESPECIALLY to some self-important Viking.

Freyr, the Viking God of Lust, is bored with his existence. So when Aphrodite and Callypso ask him for a favor - in exchange for his "fated mate" - he decides to play along, and see what happens. But he wasn't prepared to meet Baba Yaga. She isn't like any other female he's ever come across, and he quickly realizes that there's more to her than meets the eye.

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love the Kingdom books (and their spin-offs). So it's no surprise that I grabbed a copy today and absolutely devoured it. While I will say that it was an enjoyable read, I also have to admit that it wasn't my favorite of the series. The snark between Baba Yaga & Freyr (aka Fellatio) was pretty dang hilarious and it was fun to see what would come out of their mouths next. The reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because compared to the others in the series, I didn't quite feel the connection between the two. Which really sucks, since I wanted to LOVE this book - where instead, I only liked it.

I really enjoy the first three books of the series, however, this book is somewhat different, the characters are talking a little bit differently and that does not bode well with me.. I still enjoy the book and really like the relationship between Baba Yaga and Freyr!
