Six months ago, newlyweds Annabelle and Julian learned all about passion at the hands of Vincent, the Marquis of Denby, and his wife, Sabrina. Now, however, Julian’s father is convinced they’re out of control. Julian and Annabelle give into their desire for each other – and others – whenever the urge strikes them and it’s caused a bigger scandal than the couple expected when they’re caught. Julian’s father sends his son and Annabelle to Vincent and Sabrina’s estate to be disciplined. Can the pair learn to control their desires or will Vincent and Sabrina bar them from the scandalously pleasurable Midwinter Ball?
A Midsummer Night’s Delights was an extraordinary, no-holds-barred passionate journey for Julian and Annabelle. A Midwinter Night’s Delights, however, takes on the darker side of eroticism. I admit, I was so excited when I learned I’d get to read about Julian, Annabelle, Vincent, and Sabrina again, but I’m afraid A Midwinter Night’s Delights was more harsh and unfeeling than I’d expected. Julian and Annabelle needed to learn their lessons, to be sure, but their “punishments” in A Midwinter Night’s Delights left me missing the warmth and joy of A Midsummer Night’s Delights.
I did enjoy the glimpse into Vincent and Sabrina’s past Kelli A. Wilkins gave in A Midwinter Night’s Delights and the story does pick up towards the end, but on the whole, A Midwinter Night’s Delights just doesn’t live up to its predecessor.
