When I first started these books I was so surprised by how much I liked them. I absolutely loved getting so much of Nate POV and understand more of his character and where he's come from and what he's been through. Can that man please be allowed to be happy?
Can't wait for the next one.

It seems I always say this, but I really think this was the best of the Joe Pickett novels so far. Great read!!

Pretty good...first C.J. Box novel I've read, and I enjoyed it. Nate Romanowski is the kind of human, but uber-skilled, character that I enjoy escaping with, and Box didn't disappoint in that regard. Others have reviewed the content of the book, so I won't do that in my review, except to say that the conflict in the book is well set up, the action seems well-researched, and the resolution is satisfying. It was good treadmill reading.

I don't know when I'll read another C.J. Box novel (Joe Pickett doesn't sound as interesting to me as a main character), but perhaps some day. There are too many other things I want to read.

I love the books where Nate gets a leading role. He and Joe are so good together.

After reading C. J. Box's stand alone novels, I really appreciated coming back to a Joe Pickett novel. Don't get me wrong, the stand alones were good, but there is something about returning to familiar people and places. Interestingly enough this story is more about Nate. We finally find out what has been hanging over Nate's head for so many years and why very scary and bad people are chasing him. For faithful readers of this series, this is a nice payoff.

One of the best so far-non stop action. So we finally get to know the reason why the fugitive Nate has been in hiding all these years in this book. This is more like Tom Clancy with the special ops guys going rogue. High body count, lots of action as we do a multi-state ride along-WY, CO, ID, MT. Joe gets involved as usual and his family is in real danger and paranoia increases to the point where everyone is a suspect. Now this would be a great series for TV. We have Longmire, we need to have Joe Pickett on TV too.

Way good and entertaining. I cant believe it took me this long to read a Joe Pickett novel. Definitely a series I will be catching up with in the future.
