the best one so far or really close to it! it was a little bit too short and there are a lot of ideas that i want to see explore further!

Update after 2019 reread: Still awesome, plus, after 3+ years in therapy myself, the therapy scenes, and the subtle ways Henry changes in response to them, resonate even more strongly.

Also, here's a thing: some of the 1992 attitudes that seemed outdated in 2011 seem much less outdated in 2019. Sooooo we're regressing. Or just getting worse at hiding our hatreds. So there's that. yay

Oh, you know. Part of me weeps that Nava's not writing mysteries anymore; but another part of me is glad that he quit while his books were still such gems.

The Hidden Law was written in 1992 so some of the attitudes, thank goodness, are outdated, but it's a good reminder of how far we still have to go on LGBT, racial, and socioeconomic equality in this country.

And, oh yeah--a mystery happened, and Rios solved it. That was pretty cool, too.
