Not gonna lie, I was super excited to see Trese on Netflix and even more excited to pick this graphic novel up on Amazon!

Horror elements and a smattering of Filipino mythology and monsters abound in this beautiful book, and I can’t wait for volume 2!

An ex-girlfriend introduced me to TRESE exactly five years ago, and I became an immediate and ardent fan. This new edition of the first volume, with completely redrawn art and revised panel layouts is even more impressive. Very well done to Budjette and Kajo, and congratulations on getting Alexandra Trese’s stories out to the rest of the world!

Trese takes familiar Filipino mythology and gives it a dark, modern twist. What I used to laugh off as superstitious characters now feel real, and they have me very creeped out.

The stories are very short, making for quick reading. The writer stated that he wanted the reader to jump into any story and not feel like he has missed anything by not having read the previous stories. That works out well for this issue of Trese, where every story is complete by itself.

The art fits the story perfectly. No colors: just black and white dominating the pages, evoking a gritty atmosphere that the story deserves.

Interesting plot. It was exciting to see Filipino representation. I will definitely watch Trese before continuing with the comic book to see if it is something I want to continue reading.

I tried to stretch the time it would take for me to read it because of its length but it was just too short.

Anyway, that last story though!

Overall a good read. I wish other locally produced books with the same caliber as Trese to surface :)

I enjoyed the stories. Too short for my liking but they're still good. The 4th story caught me off guard with the revelation. I'm excited to dive into this world more.

idk why it took me so long to finally start reading this.

what a great way to start a series about philippine mythos. i especially love the kambal as they balance out alexandra trese's stoic personality.
