This was quite a unique take, imho, on a angel-turned-succubus. I really enjoyed the story, with the exception that it seemed really slow in places. Not a bad start to a "new to me author" and a series.

Monica, a barista by day, stripper by night has the blues. How is a former angel turned succubus supposed to work for a hottie and not sleep with him? Monica's motto is to only sleep (aka steal life) with the already condemned souls, so her boss is off limits.

The focus of Soul Stripper focuses around Monica's dual life. She works a fairly normal job selling coffee then does the complete opposite by going to her night job and stripping. Another main focus of the book is that someone seems to be killing succubi (succubus'?) and Monica might be next. It's pretty much a rush against the clock to find out who is behind the killings before she gets targeted and murdered.

Romance: Bow chica bow wowwwww! Soul Stripper is not for the faint of heart. There are sexy times in almost every chapter. This being an erotica novel, that wasn't very surprising. What did surprise me was how well written everything was and the focus wasn't on all of the sex. That being said, if you enjoy erotica books with a twist of paranormal you will love this book!

I couldn’t help myself with SOUL STRIPPER. It was one of those deeply discounted eBooks that I got through some Kobo sale or something and it just sounded so ridiculous and appetizing that I just couldn’t not. So I did. And I’m kind of glad I did.

My biggest issue was that the editing wasn’t stellar. More typos than I’d care to see in a finished book, and Aphrodisia is a Kensington imprint so it’s not like it’s self-published or a super small indie or something. But there were enough for it to be irksome.

Other than that it was a fun, super hot little read. I mean if you’ve watched any of the TV show Lost Girl (which is also a fun, trashy little show that I need to get back into) then a succubus having to bang dudes to heal herself and sustain herself is nothing new. The fact that Monica’s a stripper just helps her out in that regard (and creates some hot sex scenes, let me tell you). It’s not a mind-blowingly awesome story, but it’s compelling. It had me hooked, especially because the book started on some incredibly hot sex. How could I not be?

I did like how Collins interjected some substance to it. There’s this whole unknown regarding Monica’s rise as a succubus and going through her history in little flashbacks was interesting. I did think, though, that her banging her way through a battle field in order to alleviate soldiers’ pain (and lessen her own guilt) was a bit much. Kind of lost me there a little. But other than that I was totally on board for the story I was being told (and the sex, have I mentioned that?).

I knew who the killer was from the beginning. It’s fairly obvious and the fact that no one in the story made the connection was a bit plot-serving (and a dead giveaway), but whatever. I had fun reading it.
SOUL STRIPPER isn’t fantastic, but it’s fun. You’ll have a good time with the story. From the action (non-sex action) to the sex (sex sex action) to the character development (believe it or not), it was all really enjoyable once you got over how silly and kind of ridiculous the premise is. There’s not much to not like here, not when you’re looking for a light romp through a demon-run strip club. I already have the second book on its way to me!

This book is one of those that has caused me a little bit of conflict because, although I really enjoyed it, it reminded me a lot of another succubus series that I have recently read. This is always dangerous as one is bound to come up short by comparison and, unfortunately, it was this one.

Monica is a succubus who is ashamed of what she is. A fallen Angel, she was seduced by a vampire and became a minion for the devil, rather than the light, but she remains good at heart. She chooses to get her life energy from men that are morally corrupt therefore not adding to the quota of corrupted good souls for her demon boss. She meets these men at the strip club she works at night which is ran by her demon boss who is oddly protective of her. She is a little bit in love with the human she works for during the day (at a coffee shop) but can’t allow herself to touch him for fear of taking his soul therefore destines herself to months of angst and lusting looks. Some of you will be able to see where my problems arose from with this book. That being said, I have marked the next in the series as to read because I enjoyed the suspense plot a lot.

The succubus/love-square plot thread actually didn’t thrill me all that much. It was all very angsty but overall I just thought she was just playing them all, making me feel a little icky. She either couldn’t have them or didn’t want them exclusively, but she still played up her succubus charms and tortured them a little. It all felt a little shallow and I didn’t think it did much for her character by the end; I wanted to like her for her morals and beliefs but she didn’t really stick to any of them. In the end, I actually found myself caring little for who she ended up which I’m sure wasn’t the point. The only relationship in the whole bunch that even peaked my interest was the relationship between Julian and Monica and that was only because I really wanted to see if he gave into temptation or not.

The part that I really did enjoy was the suspense plot surrounding the murders of the Succubus and the missing powers. I’ll admit I guessed some of that conclusion but I was pretty shocked with the overall resolution. This is the part of the book that will keep me reading the next in the series as it was pretty darn innovative and fun. I want to like this series so much because I rarely find a UF series that can surprise me nowadays and I just want to grab onto them with both hands. I was also very pleasantly surprised by just how sexy it was. The sex was very hot and frequent; I know it sounds shocking that a lot of the succubus books I’ve read don’t have a lot of sex in them but this felt like an erotica novel at its core. I liked that.

Overall, this is a series that I will continue with but that is really only on the strength of the suspense plot. I liked that there was enough of an erotica theme to keep me occupied and will admit I found myself getting rather hot under the collar.
