Every sort of blue is shown in this beautifully illustrated book. Playful cut-outs add depth to each image and each subsequent page as the viewer looks both forward and backward to see how the colors play with one another.

Different shades of blue are explored as a child and his dog grow up together.
Share this with a slightly older child who can understand death (or who might have lost a pet).

A beautifully illustrated, minimally worded story of a boy growing up with his dog. The only words on each page describe the type of blue ("baby blue," "very blue.") There is a sad moment towards the end of the story, but it is all part of the circle of life.

I DID NOT EXPECT THAT TO HAPPEN. Absolutely heart-breaking and brilliant.

Blue is a beautiful color and also the name of a wonderful dog. I loved the author's use of word play and color to depict and loving story about human and animal friendships.

I was enamoured by the cutouts in the book and trying to find them, and it took almost the entire book before I realized this story was quite emotional. Really well done.

Very creative illustrations that make you take a second look at each page. Beautiful story underneath the guise of exploring different types of blue.
