I finally finished this juvenile/YA series! "Among the free" is not how I interpreted what was going to be happening in this part--the final part--of this story, but it was true to the series.

Rereading this series shot me back into my childhood. No wonder Iā€™m such an anarchist now. Go Luke. What a great series of brave kids standing up to fascism and abhorrent wealth inequality. šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

This was the final book in the Shadow Children series and was probably my least favorite. I felt that the ending was a bit weak and rushed, with some big questions left unanswered. But, I would give the entire series as a whole a solid 3 1/2 stars. You definitely must be able to suspend your disbelief while reading these books, but they are fast-paced and exciting for the most part. I enjoyed my time reading them.

Loved the final book in the series! The end seemed rushed which is my only complaint.

this was a great ending to the shadow children series. You finally get to see what happens to all of the character and how the country will react once the shadow children have come out of hiding.

I think the book focused too much on how scared Luke was to do anything. Make the point and move on and save 1/3 of the reading time.  Although I got tired of this, the book was one that I read in one sitting, to see how it ended. I really wish his friends had been in the book more ā€”
if nothing else, just to see him make his speech. I thought it was out of character for them to not show up at the huge celebration.
