This volume was a huge improvement over vol. 1 - the primary story was a woman's story, as promised, not a man's story about a woman (ignoring the short story at the end because ugh).
I would have preferred it without Jack, a least favourite character who just keeps turning up, but thankfully h doesn't upstage the characters this story centres around.
Interesting, different, disturbing, and worth the time if you read the main series.

Great art and a couple interesting character developments, but it is hard to enjoy a story with that much narration.

I thought this volume was a lot stronger than [b:Fairest, Vol 1: Wide Awake|13536522|Fairest, Vol 1 Wide Awake|Bill Willingham|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1375405869s/13536522.jpg|19098237] but it was still lacking something. I liked the characters and their motivations but I was expecting more. I think part of the problem is that each story/character is contained to ONE graphic novel and there isn't as much time to expand upon a story line as I would like so it feels rushed and compact rather than explained fully. I will be continuing with the series though because I love love love it.

I wanted so badly to love this, but it was disappointing. I didn't dislike it, I just didn't love it.

I find it annoying that they needed to have this spin-off series in order to make FABLES good again.
