I'm not sure that you should trust any given review of mine about any given version of the Hitchhiker's Guide because I adore it in all variations. I discovered this universe at a young age when the TV series aired immediately after Doctor Who on PBS. I was too young to realize how terrible the special effects were, and now I have too much love for it to care. Next came the books, followed by the scripts for the first two radio series, then the primary and secondary radio series, after that the movie, and now, at long last, the tertiary, quandary, and quintessential radio series.
I expect it speaks to my great love of this work that I remember the precise order in which I discovered each and every marvelous and distinct chapter. So you probably shouldn't trust me on this review anymore than you should trust me when I firmly assure you that my cat Zoe was the cutest and sweetest cat in the world (though that's objectively true), because I might be slightly biased.
Regardless, it has, and continues to, shape how I view the world. I was, in part raised by it, and I love it. You should read it too. And, um, listen to it. And possibly even watch it.
