Horror books never gave me the creeps to be honest except this one. Reading it, I was nauseous 🤢 and that ending was so depressing. Overall, the book is amazing as a horror and I'm definitely checking more books from this writer!

This was a decent read (and an unsurprising one) but it lost me when we wandered away from the realism to the fantastical with the bloody-headed man and the two agents questioning the protagonist. I would have liked a more grounded approach to this kind of story, but that's just my preference.

This book, with its protagonist's cold, detached demeanour, leaves a significant impact, evoking exasperation and despair as it explores themes of societal injustice and powerlessness. Instead of aiming to entertain, it deeply disturbs and defies reader expectations. I am reluctant to recommend it because it confronts uncomfortable truths and is profoundly unsettling in the most horrific ways.
Personally, I would have appreciated a deeper exploration of the protagonist's thoughts and feelings towards the end.
Additionally, shedding more light on his childhood would have been beneficial, as the book only skims the surface of his upbringing. Understanding the factors that contributed to his disturbed and delusional mind, as well as his horrific behaviours, would have added depth to the narrative.
