Lily Rhodes has been in love with her brother’s best friend, Jake, since he became her hero when she was three years old. She followed him and her brother, Riley, everywhere, hoping that one day he might actually notice her.

Jake and Riley both went to Afghanistan, but during an attack, Jake is wounded and returns home, thinking that he is not worthy of Lily or anyone.

DISCLAIMER: I received an e-ARC of this book for honest review.

I must say that I had high hopes for this book. Friends (brother's best friend) turned lovers. Second chances to a degree. Wounded army hero. The works. The author tries to bring several different elements together. The concept intrigued me. These are all elements I LOVE in books. My auto-drive reads. I really did enjoy the story. I enjoyed the characters. I just felt like the book was missing something. I actually want to read the book again, because I would definitely want to read it more than once.

MY RATING: 3.5 STARS.

This book is definitely fits into the cute, sweet section of the bookshelf. I might find myself liking it even better after reading a second time around. I definitely have mixed feelings about this book. But for now, I think it is a fair read.
