Tara's story is inspirational. A sad reality that the pursuit of knowledge often leaves you very far off in the forest looking around for the people you thought were with you all along. The ideologies don't match, too many challenged beliefs, too many too stubbornly cling.

Here is what I think, it's easy to label someone bipolar or absolve them from their actions by attributing to some disease. But the role we play in enhancing those symptomatic responses by labeling and filing is so big.

Dad wasn't there like he needed to be.
Mom wasn't there when she needed to be.
All you ever need is a college degree.

This memoir is an amazing story of the daughter in a survivalist family finding a way to survive her family. Education is more than books and teachers. It's getting to know yourself and what you believe, trying to understand where you come from and how that shaped you. It's *deciding* who you are and what you believe. It's learning how to go on with and without the people you love. The books and teachers? They're just the beginning.
