I didn’t know Paisley Smith until recently, when a couple of friends (you know who you are) brought her books to my attention, and I have to thank them for that. Well-written smut can be delightful and Smith’s books – those I have read so far at any rate – definitely are.

In Fall to Pieces, Nashville music producer Mallory Hayes dreams of producing an all-female rockabilly band. Her plan is to bring together “a group of submissives trained to please”, the idea being that to attract the widest audience possible, they’d have to be willing to conform, at least to some extent, and no one is more willing than submissives. She has her eye on Polly Purefoy as the lead singer. Part of the deal is that Polly agrees to be trained by a professional dominatrix, Vivien Blackheart.

That’s about all for the plot, there won’t be many more mentions of music after that, it’s all spanking and dildoes and anal play. It’s joyous and hot and strangely moving when Vivien breaks her own rules against falling for a client.

The novella length is perfect for this story, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Sadly it seems the author stopped at two.

A bit of naughty fun. The plot and characters work nicely in the novella format.

I'm on a Paisley Smith binge at the moment and it's quite enjoyable :-)
This story is set in the Nashville music scene, but there was not a whole lot of music to be heard in this story (maybe we get more down the line when all band members of the Honkytonk Angels have been picked?). There was plenty of singin' of a whole different nature when domme Vivien Blackheart wields that pesky black padle on sub Polly's shapely behind.

Polly Purefoy (love the last name) gets invited by a big shot record producer (Molly Hayes) to join her new to form band the Honkytonk Angels. Ms. Hayes, who also dabbles as a dominatrix, has a theory that submissives make easier-to-work-with band members and therefore wants Polly to be trained by her domme friend Vivien.

Polly is a natural and she blossoms under Vivien's stern but loving guidance. Vivien has trouble keeping her professional distance when Polly wants more from her. The sultry domme has been down that road before with a client and it ended in tears... her tears. Vivien is determined to never go down that road again, but is she getting in over her head with Polly?

As I have come to expect from the author we have a sweet romance combined with well written smouldering sexytimes. And domme Vivien Blackheart will make your little heart flutter.

f/f explicit
Themes: domme Vivien paints a lovely retro picture... hubba hubba, those poor sphincters are suffering again, not much music in this story but Vivien has Polly warbling a different tune, my first experience with a three-way strap-on (!), we need more lube.
