I had a lot of false starts trying to get into this memoir. I didn't want to put it in the DNF pile because I felt it was an uniquely relatable premise.

And it was. I can see from reviews that many people just heard a whiney person lamenting on never finding love and feeling unlovable. But I think it's something many people contend with - and is becoming more common.

The kind of encounters she's had often starts up those cyclic thoughts throughout your life. And there isn't a clear solution to it (that doesn't involve self-betrayal and losing pieces of themselves).

I was not the biggest fan of the Joni Mitchell references, it added a "Julie and Julia" element that I was indifferent to.
