DNF around page 40.

I think this is just not my vibe right now. Writing is fine, story is fine. Just not feeling it

Solid 4 stars, I enjoyed this premise. World building was good, writing was good, interesting plot with just enough detail omitted to leave questions for book 2. I will say I didn’t feel the immediate connection I often do with a good sci-fi fantasy book. I think I wasn’t particularly connected to the characters in a meaningful way. I also felt because this was originally published as a series of short stories, there is a lack of plot twists that felt a little flat for me. I kind of knew what was happening from the beginning and the big reveals didn’t feel particularly big to me, it was sort of formulaic for a post-apocalyptic subterranean novel. I will likely read the next book and I would be interested to watch the show to see how the world is interpreted. I understand why this is such a hit for so many people, well written and interesting but for me was just a solid good read, not mind blowing.
