I really wanted to love this but I just couldn't. There's some wonderful, powerful ideas and some captivating moments of high drama that really stand out, but the writing between the moments seems vague and obtuse to an irritating degree. The result, for me, is such a wildly swinging tone that I couldn't enjoy it, apart from those specific moments where something interesting happened and it wasn't just Therese rabbiting on about something that is supposedly deep but actually just seems like random sentences strung together. I think this is a way of me saying I enjoyed the plot and themes but not the writing style.
