A very interesting twist to the Holmes stories. Here we have modern day London. 2 brothers working in the baker st office as lawyers, 1 twisted person who thinks they're Moriarty, and a black cab scheme... very interesting. A bit slow at times but the pace picked up nicely with lots of twists and turns...

Pretty good as a mystery goes. It was pretty good!

I give it four stars because the way Laura pitted two men against each other was so stupid and the way Reggie fell for it was even dumber. I so wanted him to say "if you want to marry the media millionaire then do it. Quit waiting for me to just in this game that you clearly have all the cards to." And why must the brothers keep getting arrested? I mean really, that's getting old.

The mystery and characters are fun and engaging. This is a series I’m going to keep reading, but I hope future books do more to explore the premise more. Am I the only one who wants to know why they are they supposed to be reply to letters addressed to Sherlock Holmes with a specific form letter? It seems obvious that you’d want a clear answer to that question given all the trouble that the letters cause.

Light read...but not as billed. I didn't find it Holmesian at all...and as a mystery too much is left out to figure it out yourself.

After I started reading, I noticed it's a "second", but too much of it refers to the first. If the reader hadn't read the first (like me) there were continuing references that made no sense...kind of like when you have a conversation with someone who thinks you already know what they are talking about.

Overall ok book. The momentum of the book overall is ok, slowly builds into peaks of things falling into place. Seems like it's built up into 3 peaks that makes the clues click together then adds more to reach the next peak. The ending is kinda lackluster and is very descriptiony with some action. Lots of traveling and some things a good chunk of motive gets explained at the peaks or the end.

I enjoyed this book. While I can't say I loved it, or would have to reread it, it was definitely a fun read and had enough going on to keep me entertained and interested. The whole series makes a lot more sense if you start at the beginning, as there are quite a few references to the first book.

My favorite thing about this series is the writing. It's just really good. I also enjoy the plot of all of Robertson's books – it's fast paced and complex, which makes you want to read the whole book in one sitting. I enjoy the characters as well, though I feel at times Reggie is hard to relate to, but is overall fairly likeable.

Fun, quick read. A bit weak on the "mystery" and the writing got a bit messy near the end, but strong on atmosphere.

Not really a fan of the mentally ill villain trope.
