Not my favourite Bell tale. Moved rather slowly, however, I find that this is usually linked to the "theme" of each yarn (cars, trains, planes, mining, oil prospecting, etc) and this one was about the Catskill Aqueduct. Apparently I do not find that topic very fascinating. Still a good story, just not as compelling for me this time around. On to the next!

I have mixed feelings about this book. The story-line itself is fantastic, but the juicy bits of the story were never developed enough to bring it to life. I really wanted to like it just because I saw the potential and what was trying to be done, however, it was "trying," not done. When the main character of the book is in a coma in the hospital you should feel anguish and heartbroken, or when he gets the bad guy you should be silently (or if it's good enough aloud) shouting "Yes!" This book didn't move me to feel or do any thing, it was like reading a history novel.

I listened to this on audio book because I find that I'm more productive with a book. And if I had given my quiet, relax in the chair, cat on my lap free time, I wouldn't have made it past a couple chapters. Additionally, if it didn't hit one of the criterion for my book challenge, I wouldn't have picked it up.
I've read a few Cussler books over my time and they are well written and interesting. They are also predictable, Bond-esque, and overly fabricated. The heroes are HEROES and the villains are VILLAINS and the hyperbole is too much, too much to read another.
But it's done, and I can cross that off my list.

I'm not normally a Fiction book reader however I loved this book. I was immersed in the story and was constantly looking forward to reading on. Clive Cussler does a good job of setting the atmosphere for gangsters in New York book.

Review went missing. How does save not working?
I like it but other Cussler books are more my type of adventure.

Different style compared to other Isaac Bell stories. Slower but still enjoyable.
