This book got returned before I could finish it, and I honestly was dreading reading it anyways. This was primarily an attempt to read a book with my fantasy-loving husband…but this series isn’t for me.

I read this series for the first time back in middle/high school. When I re-read Eragon again, I enjoyed it but I thought that the nostalgia factor definitely influenced my opinion of the book. I don’t feel that way about Eldest. I think this is a good book! Not perfect, but honestly better than I remembered it being. I’m super excited now to continue my re-read of this series and then go on to the new Murtagh book. Especially since I love Murtagh as a character.

I'm unsure what to rate it as far as content-wise (the excessive magic bothered me), but otherwise it was great.
