I hadn’t expected to find such an insightful meditation on motherhood, womanhood, and kin building when I picked up this story. It is and is not what you think it might be about.

Well, one good thing about this book is that I have a lot of thoughts about it! This would make a good book club pick, assuming I actually went. I'm not going to provide this all in an organized manner   just thrown all out there:
Warren repeats the same honeymoon fisherman story 3 times, twice in the same chapter. And then it was referenced again later. I get it!
Warren is an ass. He actually tells Sarah that leaving his wife counts as a contribution to their relationship and is equal to her selling her house? Dude, for real?
Other than one occasion, Janet only makes frozen pot pies. I'd probably want to leave her too.
And, after the affair ends, Warren and Sarah spend the rest of their lives moping? This didn't feel like love to me but more self-centeredness. Is that a word? It should be. If it was really so bad, wouldn't it have been better for Warren to just be cut off from his family and be with Sarah? Stupid!
The ending.......all I could think was what took so long? How sad is that?

If I could rate this 10 stars I would. This is definately my book of the year so far. The descriptions of middle age and life’s challenges just could not cut any deeper. Amazing writing exploring emotions of later life and shared human experiences. It’ll rip your heart out and you will thank Roxana for doing so!
