A great follow-up to his first book (my favorite picture book of 2007!). Filled with more humorous monster stories, poems and jokes as well as Adam Rex's really unique visual/illustration style. My favorite bits of this one are the Edgar Allen Poe character and when Dracula accidentally eats garlic bread at the wedding reception. So funny!

Adam Rex is one of my favorite poets for kids. I loved his plays on Poe!

A humorous book with examples of many different types of writing: cartoons, blogposts, haiku, advertisements, directions, critical review, etc.

Loved this second collection of poems about the Universal Monsters. Amazing artwork and great mixtures of styles. My favorite poems/stories would have to be the one about Medusa needing glasses, Dracula Jr in the style of Charles Schulz, and Dracula having an allergic reaction to eating garlic bread at Mr and Mrs Frankenstein's wedding.

Epic!

Fun, but not quiet as good as the first one.

Not as good as Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich but pretty good. Some new characters are in this one. In this book Frankenstein wants to get married and the brides mother is upset because she just buried her daughter and now she has to create a wedding. Edgar Allen Poe has some poems and the Headless Horseman has a blog. I do like the Caterer of Frankenstein and all the warnings for each of the guests. And poor Dracula and the piece of garlic bread. Still a good way for kids to enjoy poetry.

I'm a big fan of Adam Rex. This book is very clever, but I think it's really a picture book for older kids or even adults. There are so many references to literature and folklore that little ones haven't been exposed to yet. At least, mine haven't. So there is quite a bit that Z didn't understand, and attempts to explain some of it just become more confusing. Even so, there were parts that made Z giggle. She liked the Medusa story a lot.

These books are so fun and cute. This is exactly the book I would have adored as a child and read until it wore out.
