I absolutely loved this book a huge improvement on the first in my eyes. It took a little getting used to with the alternate chapters outer character but once I did I couldn't get enough of it. I can't wait to deer what happens next now.

This one was a lot better than Blood Bound. The world building still amazes me! I don't know how she does it, but Rachel Vincent sure can create one heck of a world. It's terrifying!!!

I loved the characters a lot more in this one. Kori is a kick-ass character! She is so fierce and strong and I love it! Even when people tried to break her in the most terrifying ways, she survived and came back stronger. Ian was amazing as well. He has the hero complex built into him and he is loyal to everyone he cares about. I loved how Kori's and Ian's relationship was developed because, this is probably going to sound weird but, it showed that Kori really was hurting. She's not invincible and she was affected by the way she was treated. Their relationship seemed real and genuine despite the fact that they only knew each other for a couple of days.

The other reason why this one was better than the first was because it showed which POV the chapter was going to be coming from in the beginning. A lot of people were confused in Blood Bound because it wasn't shown, so this helps take away the confusion and makes it an easier read.

First I do have to say that it was not as good as book 1. Sure I still enjoyed the book, but it could just not top book 1. I'd have loved for them all to be kick-ass.

Maybe it was cos this one was darker, no, that was not it, I liked the darkness, it was gritty and real. Kori had gone through so much. I felt so sorry for her. And then we have Ian with his secrets. Could it be that the couple was not as good as in book 1? Don't ask me, truth be told I really do not remember much about book 1 o_O Which is never good either. So even if this was a good book, I fear that it might go into darkness too. In that corner in my mind where forgotten books go.

But hey, I liked the book. It was kick-ass, heartbreaking, any HEA seemed impossible, Tower is so freaking evil! The whole system with bindings makes me so mad too. What a good creation, such a cool world.

Therefore I just can't say why I did not think it was awesome. It was something, just something. Still it was good, it's Vincent after all.

....maybe it was Ian..yes maybe. I just did not fall for him...eh, something.

Not only did I read this book in less than a day, but I (true story) kind of, maybe, fist-pumped at the end. It was that good. Soooo freakin’ good! Rachel Vincent has always been among my top 4 fav. authors, but this book probably put her in the number one spot. She’s going to be untouchable for quite some time. I loved Shadow Bound!

The world that Rachel Vincent has created in her Unbound series is a lot like ours but with a distinct ‘not quite human’ twist that creates a dark edge for the main crew of characters. Those with special abilities must be constantly vigilant to guard their secrets or risk being trapped into something they may never be able to get out of.

Although this is the second book in the series, it focuses on a character who was secondary in Blood Bound (book 1) but is just as awesome as Liv. Kori would be insanely intimidating in person but she was a lot of fun to read and adventure with. After the events of the first book she was in a pretty bad place with a lot on the line but this girl has an unbelievable amount of fight in her. She’s not your typical character by any means but makes for a mesmerizing read! Of course, her counterpart Ian is also a great character and has some secrets of his own (the book is told from alternating perspectives). We do get to see a bit of Cameron and Liv, but not quite as much as I would have liked.

This book is an emotional roller-coaster from start to finish and fair warning, there are some darker moments that are sure to effect a lot of readers. Nobody is entirely honest about their motives and both main characters are constantly second guessing the other, and themselves which can be a lot to follow but as both Kori and Ian had such high stakes you can’t help but feel like the two of them have grabbed onto your heart.

It’s the combination of darkness and kick-asseyness that makes this series so epic. I’m assuming there is going to be an overall arc that this series follows and I’m really curious to see how the final events of Shadow Bound will effect this world as a whole. Feels like everything is about to get a little bit crrrazy. Anyways, I know this

A little heavy on the insta-love but still yet another entertaining read from Ms. Vincent.

I couldn't tell you why I didn't click with this. Kori had so much going on, was so understandable and struggling so hard against her bindings that it was impossible not to feel for her. The world building is fantastic.

But I didn't click with this story in the same way I clicked with Liv and Cam. I wanted Kori to win, but I wasn't on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next.

And though I love the world that Rachel Vincent built here, I'm going to leave at well enough alone and not pursue the third book in the series. I struggled too much with this one, and I can't see myself caring more about Kris and his possible love interest.

If you liked the idea of this world, however, I can recommend Alice Worth's Heart of Malice, which includes a few more magical creatures, but it follows a similar vein of debt and power relations. And definitely don't miss Ilona Andrew's Hidden Legacy series, which should be world heritage stuff.

Strangely enough, I don't see enough novels following this sort of world vision, which is disappointing. There could definitely be a lot more books working with this kind of theme.
