It is obvious that James Luceno is a true Star Wars fan. He captured the world and characters perfectly as if I was watching them on the screen. For reason I assume were more to do with the Lucasfilm story group instead of James, the pacing of the book was off. It felt like both too much and not enough was happening. While I love all of these characters on screen and in the book, it was hard to root for or against any of them with continuous jumping between story lines. In addition, if you have seen Rogue One, you know where all of the characters end up by the end of the book, so suspense was lacking. I think it would have been best to take one of the story beats and focused on that for an entire book instead of covering years worth of Star Wars lore. Worth the read as a Star Wars fan, but not one of my personal favorites.

If you love politics, romance, and broken relationships with first person perspectives on Imperial uprising and manipulation, this book is for you.
So boring oh my god.
I went in with mid to high expectations. And I was left utterly disappointed.
This book tells me a lot of things, but it needs to show me. I could tell you 5 things that happen in this book. Half the time I’d have to go back and reread a page to make consume what I had read, only to be met with nothing. Probably the most forgettable book, I’ve read, maybe I’ll ever read. Really really disappointed.
The only good thing was Lyra and Galen’s convos.
I hate the name Has, that’s A rEAL WORD.
I respect you if you get this book, but it isn’t for me.
