Loved it!

The writing itself is pretty mediocre (so many epithets... why) and I found the engineering jargon a bit excessive, but definitely useful as background material for R1 and good character insight into Krennic + the Ersos.

Pretty good for a prequel to a movie. Having read most of this before seeing Rogue One a second time, it really helps you become invested in the characters and adds a good amount of meat to their interactions.

All I ever wanted was more Galen Erso and, boy, did I get it. Brilliant! On the edge of my seat with excitement and delight!

I got about 100 pages into this, but was honestly just super bored. The pace is extremely slow, the narrative is super dry, and the characters don't have any depth at all. I thought I would love reading about Galen and Krennic, but not at all. Oh well.

Much better than the last Luceno book I read. I rather liked it. It adds some pretty solid depth to the Rogue One characters.

I wanted to like this book. I really liked Rogue One, and I was hoping this would be a great companion read to that.

My issues with it aren't necessarily against James Luceno though. The quality of this book was completely consistent with the quality of all of his other Star Wars books. Unfortunately, I have never really been a fan of Luceno Star Wars books.

People usually love James Luceno's SW books, and I'm sure this one will be no different. I just didn't really care about the story, and I don't like his style.
