I honestly don’t know where to start with Sea of Ruin. What a journey this book was. It was A LOT. I don’t know how to write what I think, so here are my notes while I was reading

A new kinda Pam Godwin vibe here, and I loved it! I've never really given pirate books a thought at all, but since I love PG and her writing, I figured why not!

Bennett Sharp is a female pirate who shunned her proper upbringing and followed in her dad's footsteps. She is secretly married to Priest, who betrayed her and she hasn't seen him for 2 years. Bring on the British Navy and Lord Ashley Cutler, a notorious pirate hunter, and things take a sharp turn.

Lots of angst and some truly dark moments, so if that's not your thing, you'll want to steer clear of this one.

4.5 + for sure!

Not for me! At the beginning, I was invested and enjoying the adventure of the high seas with Priest and Bennett but after a while, the writing felt cringey. The smut was…rapey and towards the end, the polyamory plot wasn’t for me.

Please don’t expect me to believe that Bennett, who killed the man who was raping her at 14, wouldn’t fight back at being raped again because she fell in love with the man within 2 seconds of meeting him.

I was looking forward to reading a pirate romance because I’m currently in a pirate hyper fixation but this didn’t hit the spot.

I just wasn’t into this. I thought the premise was good but just couldn’t really get into it!
