I like the idea of this book and think it's interesting. I fondly remember a picture book with a similar premise from when I was a child and definitely agree that we need to fight climate change for the sake of humans - the planet will survive regardless.

Yet, for me this book missed the mark. It talks about manmade objects breaking down, but not the processes that would cause it; ceramics and metals lasting longer than humans, but not plastics and forever chemicals; animals returning, but not animal species hurt by human activity who are now unable to recover without human support.

Finally, the moral seems to be that we should get rid of all humans because we just make the planet worse; possibly true, but not a great moral for a picture book. The final page is presumably supposed to refute this, but feels weak. I think it would be better replaced with ways humans can reduce our impact or undo damage we've caused in the past, rather than saving that for a short section buried in the afterward.

My favorite genre is Dystopian. I find the concept of future post human societies fascinating. They can also be very scary to think about.
This book was really beautiful. Showing kids how important it is for us to take charge bs change our ways to help the planet.
The concepts were interesting, how Eve try ting would basically go back t nature and nature would thrive. A beautiful and sad thought. The pictures were beautiful as well and it helped to calm this topic in a kind way.

Overall this book was wonderful and I would read it repeatedly to my kids.

Picture book nonfiction.  I liked the idea of this book but not the implementation.  What would the world look like without people?  This book tries to answer the question in a way to inspire readers to care for the earth, but it misses the mark.  The pictures do show plants thriving in building ruins, but the text is very dark and stilted.  I would have preferred to focus more on nature blossoming and animals reclaiming habitats but the text focuses on fires burning uncontrollably.  The illustrations are beautiful, the author's note and bibliography are helpful, but overall I would leave this one.
