She is a very good writer and some of the essays are very good and powerful. Most of them, however, do not age well—they were written to address the hot issue of the moment. Also, she seems continually to be screaming as she writes in some of them, which gets tiresome, so as a collection it doesn’t really work. It is an interesting historical look at the mindset/concerns of the late [19]80s/early [19]90s. [I would probably have a more empathetic view if I were writing this review in 2022.]
