I'll start by saying I don't think Hoover's books are for me, or more like I'm not the target audience. The characters were frustrating, the plot a bit implausible, the overall love story disappointing. The only part I appreciated was the believability of staying in a toxic relationship in the hope that you might get custody of your child. I realize that I'm being super judgey and that there are people out there who can relate to the characters and their experiences in this book. Just a book not for me.

This book >>> perfection!!!! if I could read this again đź’—đź’—đź’— the relationship between Auburn and Owen. SO PERFECT. Owen is definitely ugly in the movie but how he is the described in the book đź‘Śjust amazing. the relationship between auburn and her kid is a bond that no one will ever be able to break and this book has a special place in my heart.

i hadn’t read a colleen hoover book before, but i read it as a buddy read with my friend and i only finished it because i want to reach my reading goal. i didn’t like any of the characters and there wasn’t much plot to make up for it. both of the guys are really problematic and the sex scenes were badly written, toxic and it didn’t seem like there was consent. owens art was ugly and i wish we didn’t have to see it, if it had just been described i could have imagined it instead of having to look at the pictures. overall it was very boring and i hope i don’t ever read a book similar to it.

This was the first collen hoover book I ever read and I hope it will be the last. The only reason I actually finished this is because I was buddy reading it with a friends and she needed to finish this book to reach er yearly reading goal. I hated all the characters and it was so incredibly boring that I sometimes chose to do absolutely nothing over trying to finish this book. I wish the book hadn’t added actual photos of Owen’s art, because then I could’ve at least imagined that he was a good artist. I thought the sex scenes would’ve at least been kinda decently written, since collen hoover is known to have a lot of sex in her books, but even the scenes where both characters gave consent, it seemed like I was reading a non consensual sex scene. I hated this book deeply and it showed me how little i could care about a story.

I have read all of Colleen Hoovers most popular books, including Verity, It Ends/It Starts With Us, Ugly Love, November 9, and Hopeless, and this one is my absolute favorite. I started reading this book knowing absolutely nothing about is and I am so glad I did. I finished it so fast because I genuinely could not put it down. The prologue already had me in tears and Auburn immediately had my heart (I am also a hairdresser so I connected with her on that level too). This book deserves so much more attention, I am absolutely in love with it. This will probably be my favorite book for a long time.
