I wish there were more books about kids with food allergies.

Good lesson to help others learn about food allergies, and a portion went to a good cause.

I'm rounding up with stars because I'm honestly not finding many picture books out there for kids with allergies so am grateful books like this exist. Would definitely recommend this for any teacher who has kids with food allergies in their classroom or for kids who have friends with food allergies. I think it gets the message across loud and clear that, "...even the littlest, teeny tiny bit of something could hurt."

I was originally wishing it wasn't focused on the princess theme, but the author connects to the Princess and the Pea story, so maybe that was the point. The only other piece that felt like a bump to me was trying to figure out, if these two girls are BEST FRIENDS, how is it that one doesn't know that the other is allergic to peanuts??? The girl with the peanut allergy has been to the hospital, carries an epi-pen, and is obviously super allergic to peanuts. If the girls are best friends, I'm going to assume that they have eaten at each other's homes, discussed lunches, etc. So that piece just felt a little bit not realistic to me, but I'm also not a kid, so maybe the intended audience can skip over that piece and not have my reaction.

I especially loved the dad's reaction when Paula tells him she wishes she didn't have to tell others about her allergy. He says, "Always tell people...don't be a quiet little mouse."

Great advice for all sorts of things!
