Honestly, I still own this book because the series is fabulous! I've read it multiple times, which is more than I can say for other books, haha.

The story was repetitive, so much happened but it felt as though nothing extended the plot. Sayings and phrases were used over and over again in the novel, and were more frustrating than anything else. It felt pretty pointless in general, and the ending felt rushed with a pretty underwhelming concluding line. Not a huge fan, but I think it would be a good book for younger readers, maybe 12, that are looking for a Halloween read that isn't too terrifying.

This book is the reason why I am so terribly afraid of people who have been hung to death or burned. I probably shouldn't have read this at such a young age. Normally R.L. Stine books are not scary at all but this one just scared me so much. I loved it though, I was hooked on it. And am thinking of searching for it, to read all over again, now that I am about 10 years older...

I remember reading this when I was 9 and was so engrossed by the story line. Great read for anyone a fan of R.L. Stine

Nostalgia had me reading this. This was one of the better ones I have re-read. Trying to capture what spooked me as a 12 y/o. This one was good, but fair warning it leaves you with a cliffhanger.

Where it (supposedly) all began!! This was the peak of literature to me back in elementary school, because it was so dark compared to his other books. Looking back now, there's still that cheesiness I've come to associate with his work, but it was still pretty enjoyable in my new hag age. Nora stressing and trying to meet her own deadline hits home- did she put this off for too long and regrets it now, or just gave herself an unnecessarily short timeline to finish this? Whichever it is, same.
