This book was okay, the predictability didn't bother me but I was just bored. I kept waiting to see how long I had left which is not a good sign haha.

So this book was fine, but somehow I found it surprisingly boring for what it was. The psycho character was interesting, and the ending was nice, but I never cared about the characters and the slasher moments felt way too quick and clinical. No build up, no tension. He just does the thing and then we're on to the next one. (I'm not looking for gory details, just build up so I have time to feel scared about whats going to happen)..
I'm marking this 3 stars because I did actually like the bad guy and the idea of the story/the ending. BUT in terms of personal enjoyment this was more of a 2. Which is super sad cause I've been really excited to read this.

I had heard a lot about this one but it was rather disappointing.
The villain’s POV was not needed. It took out the mystery/surprise element from the story. And I don’t know why the villain has to suffer as a child in order to become a monster. It’s such a cliche thing. Sometimes humans are vile and evil. They don’t need a childhood trauma or mental illness to justify their actions. The villain was meh tbh just being “huge and mentally unstable human eating man” does not necessarily make you scary.
The characters were boring. The dialog felt unnatural. And i just couldn’t connect with the characters cuz they felt way too artificial. Yes there was blood and gore involved but whats the use of it when the story is a big snooze fest. I almost dnfed it at several points but since it was a rather short read I managed to complete it.
That “supernatural area in the forest” was so out of place. Even that felt forced. Like it wasn’t woven into the story at all. It just didn’t feel like part of the storyline or connected to the main plot at all.
It’s not like I have never read or watched a slasher horror. I have enjoyed many slasher moviesand books that ended up being 5 star reads. For example- The haunted forest tour by James A Moore was such a well done story. But this just wasn’t it. Specifically with that ending.
