I grew up with different versions of Juan Bobo and to be quite honest I think there are much better versions in picture book form out there than this one. Also, I didn't care for the ending in this one (I think it changes the meaning of the story and ascribes more European values to Juan Bobo :/)

This is a retelling of the Juan Bobo tale from Puerto Rico. Juan Bobo is a silly young boy who is always mixing things up. This would be a great one to contrast with other silly folktales or even Amelia Bedelia. Juan is always doing pretty much the opposite of what he is meant to do. He is trying very hard, but cannot get things right. It's a fun tale.

Juan Bobo's antics always make me smile. Oh, to take things so literally!
