A vastly intriguing setup. I think the thing that struck me most was how well a different attitude about death and life -- not as things to be controlled, but as things that happen and are accepted -- was captured.

Also, brilliant use of multiple deus ex machina (dei ex machina?)

So slow and dry

Yup slow and steady at it's very best. This novel has competing roles of just not caring about underdeveloped characters and a crack pot missing link theory.

I feel like this had so much potential to be a great book. When I first read the description on the back cover, I thought 'hey, this is a pretty cool plot...' but as I started reading, it turned out that it was just boring. The only reason I finished it was because it is required for my summer reading.
