I loved getting to know these characters. It's written with a directness and youthfulness that made every character feel real. The story requires a little time to settle into, but if you let yourself just enjoy the characters the whole thing pieces together beautifully.

This book is great it perfectly captures how stupid kids can be but it’s not their fault it’s just bc they’re kids!! And they are trying their best despite their ignorance about the world! And so many adults are there to help you! Loved this as a child and appreciate it for different reasons now that I am an adult.

Thoughtful mystery
I really enjoyed Miranda’s storytelling about the events she had lived. The story was interesting and thoughtful. Good book for older kids.

Fascinating how she tied everything up at the end. Beautifully woven. It gave me a lot to think about! A great follow up to reading "A Wrinkle in Time."

This was such a fun read! I loved the casual sci fi aspect.

I know it is superficial, but the cover of this book kept me from reading it for years. It just looks so bland and the title doesn't help either. I finally listened to this after going through a list of Newbery Award winners and I am glad that I did. Although the ending is predicable, I appreciated how it developed and liked the little twist. I also thought Stead did a good job of showing the evolution of friendship. Kids change and not everyone has friends from birth that stay with them all of their lives.

First of all everyone should read this book. Something about it is so magical and enchanting. This is one of those books that you can't help but smile after and i really enjoyed this book. Rebecca Stead is honestly one of my favorite authors.
