Now no one knows who Daredevil really is? Yep, just another no-consequences Marvel plot change. It's annoying, but not unexpected. But the book is good. Dark. And feels like a jump in the middle of the story. But a good jump. Matt's being written and drawn pretty well and I like the sidekick. I miss the supporting cast. But Old Steve Rogers has a pretty good bit part in this one.

well . i didn’t love this. the art was cool and definitely set a darker tone, but there’s just such a disconnect between this and the end of the waid run. i might be biased bc daredevil 2014 has a special place in my heart, but this story just did not do it for me.

To me this is the most disappoint book I've read in years. Everything the past writers wrote about daredevil from Bendis, to Waid have been swept away by this book. I could've gotten past this if the story was engaging. Sadly its not, there is nothing compelling about this book. The story is bland, the twists are predictable and the dialogue will make you cringe. On top of all of this Daredevil has a sidekick which makes no sense. Daredevil is not batman he doesn't need sidekicks to help him out. Also the villain is one of the stupidest villains I've encountered in a comic book. 'Tenfingers' he's called that because he has ten fingers in each hand. Give me a break.

I really don’t understand the Big Two’s obsession with status quo. Waid did some great stuff in his Daredevil run and gave Matt a ton of character progression. Now we’ve got a One More Day situation that’s returned Matt to NYC, with his secret identity back in place. It’s pretty disappointing.

As for the story itself, it’s a fairly generic Daredevil story of “I’m not sure of this is racist or not?” variety. Evil ninjas, dragon ladies, Asian mysticism, etc. Matt taking a mentor role with Blindspot was cool though. Unfortunately, the art is kind of ugly and makes the fight scenes hard to follow at times.

Ultimately, it’s not *terrible*, but it’s not amazing either.

I think the blurb on the back cover best sums this up: "A great jumping-on point for fans of the recent Netflix series." Yup. This one is for the people who loved Charlie Cox in Daredevil and have no idea where to start. Fairly standard DD romp.

Tough to follow up Mark Waid and his eternally sunny take on Ol' Hornhead. This narrowly avoids the grim label solely because of one reason - Blindspot. I liked this new character - illegal Chinese immigrant who built himself a suit of invisibility. Pretty straightforward metaphor, but it works. Without it, Matt is too bitter and too alone, though I do like his interactions with Old-Man Steve.

The art, too, was nice. The perspectives were what got me - especially any time a billy club went swinging. A bit dark overall, but it worked.

Overall, I'm glad I picked this book up for 40% off. Maybe the rest of the series picks up a bit for long- time DD readers, but if I continue, it will be with another discount.
